Free won’t

In a fascinating paper by Libet et al in 1983 it was shown that there is activity in the brain connected with a specific movement that precedes the conscious decision to make that movement. This means that our brain gets our body ready to move several hundred milliseconds before we have the thought to move. Our conscious mind can decide to veto the movement that our brain has started to put in motion – leading to the discussion of whether or not we have free will and the conclusion that maybe we have free won’t.
